The Bronx River Alliance's Environmental Enrichment and Leadership for Students (EELS) Internship is 14-month paid program that helps students dive into an environmental science career path. Interns will first participate in hands-on lab activities, spend their academic year mentored by a Bronx River Alliance team of their choice, then enjoy a second summer completing a full scientific research project. Participants earn up to $4,000 in stipends over the course of the program, and college credit through CUNY Lehman College.

Timeline:
Summer - six weeks of introductory field work at the Bronx River, while also taking an Environmental Science class at Lehman College.
Fall - dive deeper into the Bronx River by partnering with Bronx River Alliance staff in more advanced field work, then meet your research mentor.
Spring - work with your mentor in the field to complete a full science research project.

Benefits:
Up to $4,000 in stipends over the full course of the internship.
Up to 5 transferable college credits.
The opportunity to earn community service hours.
Networking with professionals in the environmental field.

Eligibility Requirements


Must be enrolled in a NYC public high school.


Must be entering 11th or 12th grade.


Have an average of 80 or above in math, science, and English.
