  • Congrats Class of 2016!

Congrats to all our scholars who are graduating high school this year! As Director of Youth Learning and Research at AMNH, Dr. Preeti Gupta, stated at this year's Student Research Colloquium: "You are all not ordinary students. You have each made significant contributions to the field of science." We know that you each will continue to lead the future of STEM!

Hk Maker Lab of Columbia University's and Harlem Biospace's HYPOTHEkids

Overview of Hk Maker Lab

Hk Maker Lab of Columbia University's School of Engineering and Applied Science and Harlem BioSpace's HYPOTHEkids is an intensive six‐week summer program to learn the foundations of engineering design.

Focusing on addressing a health problem, participants will design, prototype and test a biomedical device and develop an associated business plan. The program will culminate in a presentation to leading executives from the biomedical community. The Hk Maker Lab projects might then be incubated using the state‐of‐the‐art facilities at Harlem Biospace.

Students will gain  “Maker” skills after this intense curriculum and in turn become student leaders of such programs in their college work.  Some students will go on to an internship component, if available, during the upcoming academic year or following summer.
